Sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor regulation of N-cadherin mediates vascular stabilization

Article Abstract:

The molecular basis of vascular stabilization regulated by sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P), a platelet-derived lipid mediator is investigated. S1P-induced trafficking and activation of N-cadherin provides a novel mechanism for the stabilization of nascent blood vessels by mural cells and may be exploited to control angiogenesis and vascular diseases.

The PTEN/P13K pathway governs normal vascular development and tumor angiogenesis

Article Abstract:

Study is conducted in which Cre-loxP system was used to generate an endothelial cell-specific mutation of Pten(Tie2CrePten) in mice. Tie2CrePten(sub flox/+) mice showed enhanced tumorigenesis due to increase in angiogenesis driven by vascular growth factors, which was partially dependent on P13K subunits p85alpha and p110gamma.

A novel nuclear receptor/coregulator complex controls C. elegans lipid metabolism, larval development, and aging

Article Abstract:

Coregulator DIN-1 and DAF-12 is shown interacting physically and genetically to instruct organismal fates. It is proposed that the DIN-1S/DAF-12 complex serves as a molecular switch that implements slow life history alternatives in response to diminished hormonal signals.
