Reproductive characteristics of migratory golden eagles in Denali National Park, Alaska
Article Abstract:
The reproductive characteristics of golden eagles (Aquila chrysaetos) that nest in Denali National Park in Alaska were investigated. The data on nesting eagles were obtained from 58-72 nesting sites yearly during an entire snowshoe hare (Lepus americanus) cycle from 1988 to 1997.The results showed that the laying rates, mean brood size and overall population activity were significantly correlated with the abundance of cyclic snowshoe hare and willow ptarmigan populations.

Influences of fluctuating river flows on Bald Eagle foraging behavior
Article Abstract:
Habitat use, prey capture and foraging success of Bald Eagles in the winters of 1990 to 1991 were studied to assess the effects of hourly fluctuating river flows in the Colorado River in Grand Canyon Park, AZ, for both years. Findings showed that patterns of habitat use were very much related to fluctuating flows in both years. Foraging in river, shore and isolated pool habitats declined while foraging in nearby creek habitat increased.

Genetic variation and nesting Bald Eagles
Article Abstract:
A study of Bald Eagle populations in Colorado and Ontario, Canada, revealed the genetic attributes between and within both populations to be almost similar as a possible consequence of gene flow of effectively neutral alleles. However, eagle populations in both locations displayed significant variations in spatial isolation and population density.
