Quantitative observations of heterogeneitis in Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms
Article Abstract:
The quantification of heterogeneity in aPseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm and its effluent particle size are discussed. Two types of biofilm thickness measurements were conducted. Biomass particle sizes were measured to demonstrate the discrete nature of biomass removal from the biofilm. Substantial heterogeneity was exhibited by the laboratory grown P.aeruginosa biofilms.

A three-dimensional computer model of four hypothetical mechanisms protecting biofilms from antimicrobials
Article Abstract:
A three-dimensional computer model of bio-film dynamics was developed as a tool for investigating mechanisms of protection from antimicrobial agents in bio-films. The differences between the protective mechanisms predicted in these simulations could guide the design of experiments to discriminate antimicrobial tolerance mechanisms in biofilms.

Coppoer-induced inhibiton of growth of Desulfovibrio desulfuricans G20: assessment of its toxicity and correlation with those of zinc and lead
Article Abstract:
Copper toxicity in sulfate-reducing bacteria appears to involve a different mechanism than zinc or lead toxicity. Copper completely suppressed bacterial growth at a concentration of 30 microM.
