Production of sweat gland cholinergic differentiation factor depends on innervation

Article Abstract:

Experimental studies on footpads from Tabby mutant mice that are devoid of sweat glands reveal the correlation between sweat glands and the existence of cholinergic differentiation activity in footpad extracts. Innervation is essential for the production of sweat gland cholinergic differentiation activity. Development of the mature transmitter phenotype requires the reciprocal interactions between sweat glands and neurons.

SA-1 antigen expression in small intensely fluorescent cells is associated with proliferation

Article Abstract:

Researchers discovered sympathoadrenal precursor cells and small intensely fluorescent (SIF) cells in double-label analyses of the superior cervical ganglion (SCG) using SA-1 and an antibody that identifies a noradrenergic characteristic, tyrosine hydroxylase (TH). The expression of Sa-1 is correlated with the capacity of sympathoadrenal cells to proliferate.
