Mannose 6-Phosphate receptor dependence of varicella zoster virus infection in vitro and in the epidermis during varicella and zoster

Article Abstract:

The varicella zoster virus, which causes chicken pox as well as shingles, is a highly infectious human pathogen but the infectious virions are not released in vitro where infection is cell associated. The studies conducted to know more about the after-effects of an acute varicella infection after it is cleared are discussed.

Involvement of follicular stem cells in forming not only the follicle but also the epidermis

Article Abstract:

Results show that hair follicular stem cells of the bulge region of the skin are bipotent in that they give rise to the hair follicle and the epidermis in normal newborn and adult mouse skin. The hair follicle acts as a major repository for keratinocyte stem cells.
