Article Abstract:
In identifying physiologically relevant targets of signal transduction pathways, research is conducted to understand signal-induced activation of transcription factors and components of the transcription machinery. Results reveal that these pathways directly act on the N-terminal tails of histones of chromatin components and, via covalent modifications they elicit appropriate responses.

Article Abstract:
Results show that the transcription cycle events are sequentially regulated by distinct forms of the yeast chromatin-remodeling enzyme, Isw1p. Data indicate that Isw1p exists in two distinct complexes, Isw1a and Isw1b, with the former functioning at promoters to repress genes, while the latter coordinating both transcription elongation and termination.
