Immunochemical characterization of temperature-regulated production of enterocin L50 (EntL50A and EntL50B), enterocin P, and enterocin Q by Enterococcus faecium L50

Article Abstract:

The generation of specific polyclonal antibodies against chemically synthesized enterocin Q (EntQ) and the C- and N-terminal fragments of enterocin L50A (EntL50A) and enterocin L50B (EntL50B) as well as EntQ, respectively, are described. The analysis has demonstrated the suitability of an immunochemical strategy based on the use of bacteriocin-specific polyclonal antibodies and the results have shown a strong influence of temperature on EntL50, EntP and EntQ production by Enterococcus faecium L50.

Enterocin B, a new bacteriocin from Enterococcus faecium T136 which can act synergistically with enterocin A

Article Abstract:

Enterocin B, a new bacteriocin from the Enterococcus faecium T136 strain was analyzed. The enterocin was reported to have a broad spectrum of inhibition that acts synergistically with enterocin A. It was found that enterocin B does not contain modified amino acids. Mass spectrometry revealed a 14Da higher molecular mass that that of the calculated from the amino acid sequence.

Isolation and characterization of pediocin L50, a new bacteriocin from Pediococcus acidilactici with a broad inhibitory spectrum

Article Abstract:

The pediocin L50 obtained from Pediococcus acidilactici has effective inhibitory activity and is opposing towards all the members of the gram-positive genera. Its mass is 5250.11 plus or minus 0.30 and is grown at 8 to 32 degree centigrade. Modified amino acids but not methyl-lanthionine or lanthionine are present in the pediocin L50.
