Article Abstract:
The taxonomic investigations of nitrite oxidizers were conducted using immunoblot analyses performed with three monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) that recognized the nitrite oxidoreductase of the genus Nitrobacter. The MAbs were also employed to identify undescribed isolates and enrichment cultures. Fluorescence in situ hybridization and electron microscopic analyses confirmed results derived from the immunoblot analyses demonstrating that Nitrobacter or Nitrospira cells could be enriched from activated sludge via different substrate concentrations.

Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the expression and sequence of a gene fragment from the unicellular alga Tetraselmis chui to identify the proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) phytoplankton protein detected by anti-rat PCNA. Results reveal that anti-rat PCNA can detect Escherichia coli fusion protein. Results also indicate the similarity between the PCNA in Tetraselmis chui and those in mammals.

Article Abstract:
Researchers have developed and tested a mouse monoclonal antibody against the aflatoxin B(sub 1)-lysine adduct, which is the most common adduct in humans and animals who are exposed to the carcinogen. This will make it easier to measure the level of aflatoxin B(sub 1) in blood samples.
