Article Abstract:
Studies done to identify genes in Lactococcus lactis subsp. IL1403 and Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris Wg2 important for adsorption of the 936-species phages bIL170 and phi645 respectively are reported. The results of the study indicate that phages bIL170 and phi645 recognize and bind to different WPS structures in the cell wall. Loss of biosynthesis or export of WPS structures or parts of these structures is enough for total inhibition of phage infection.

Article Abstract:
The effect of bile salts on proteomes of Bifidobacterium animalis subspecies lactis IPLA 4549 and its bile-resistant derivative Bifidobacterium animalis subspecies lactis 4549dOX is examined. The results have shown that adaptation and response to bile in Bifidobacterium animalis subspecies lactis has involved many physiological mechanisms that are dedicated to reduce the deleterious impact of bile on the cell's physiology.

Article Abstract:
A quantitative proteomic strategy for the stable isotope labeling of Bifidobacterium longum cells with [super 13]C-substituted leucine is developed. The approach can be widely used for proteins with large number of variations.
