Identification and functional characterization of a Xenorhabdus nematophila oligopeptide permease

Article Abstract:

The identification of a Xenorhabdus nematophila ologipeptide permease (opp) locus consisting of two oppA homologues and putative permease-encoding genes oppB, oppC, oppD, and oppF is described. The result shows that the opp genes allows X. nematophila to use peptides as a nutrient source but that this function is not essential for the existence of X. nematophila in either of its host niches.

Pyrimidine nucleoside salvage confers an advantage to Xenorhabdus nematophila in its host interactions

Article Abstract:

A study to examine the role of pyrimidine salvage in nutrient exchange between Xenorhabdus nematophilia and its host by identifying and mutating a Xenorhabdus nematophilia tdk homologue was conducted. The results reveal that the nucleoside salvage confer a competitive advantage to the Xenorhabdus nematophilia in the nematode intestine and be important for normal entomopathogenicity.

CpxRA regulates mutualism and pathogenesis in Xenorhabdus nematophila

Article Abstract:

The role of CpxR in the physiology and host interactions of Xenorhabdus nematophila is examined. The results have shown that Xenorhabdus nematophila CpxTA has controlled the expression of envelope-localized and secreted products, and its activity is required for both mutualistic and pathogenic functions.
