Identification and characterization of yUAP/Sub2p, a yeast homolog of the essential human pre-mRNA splicing factor hUAP56

Article Abstract:

A Saccharomyces cerevisiae homolog, yUAP/Sub2p, of the essential human pre-mRNA splicing factor hUAP56 (human 56-kD U2AF(super.65)-associated protein) has been identified and characterized. The hUAP56 is a member of the DExD/H box protein family of RNA-dependent ATPases. At least two DExD/H box proteins have been found to mediate the U2 snRNP-branchpoint interaction. Results have implicatgions in early parts of spliceosome assembly.

The 19S complex of the proteasome regulates nucleotide excision repair in yeast

Article Abstract:

The 19S regulatory complex of the proteasome has been found to regulate nucleotide excision repair (NER) in yeast without proteolysis. Alleles were found that completely supress the NER defect that goes with deletion of the ubl domain of rad23, but do not affect the NER defect of other deletion mutant strains tested and found defective in NER.

SAGA is an essential in vivo target of the yeast acidic activator Ga14p

Article Abstract:

SAGA has been found to be a necessary target of Ga14p, the yeast acidic activator, in vivo and to facilitate PIC assembly and transcription after recruitment to the upstream activating sequence (UAS). A study was carried out using formaldehyde-based in vivo cross linking.
