Identification and characterization of three differentially expressed genes, encoding S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase, methionine aminopeptidase, and a histone-like protein, in the toxic dinoflagellate Alexandrium fundyense

Article Abstract:

Three differentially expressed genes that encode methionine aminopeptidase, S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase, and a histone-like protein in the toxic dinoflagellate Alexandrium fundyense have been identified and characterized. The study was intended to find genes for which expression was correlated to cell cycle progression and perhaps toxin production in Alexandrium.

Identification and analysis of the polyhydroxyalkanoate-specific beta-ketothiolase and acetoacetyl coenzyme A reductase genes in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. strain PCC6803

Article Abstract:

Research examines two enzymes involved in the polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) biosynthetic pathway, the PHA-specific beta-ketothiolase and an acetoacetyl-CoA reductase coded by phaA(sub)syn and phaB(sub)syn genes in Synechosystis species. Data show that the genes can be expressed in Escherichia coli, which accumulated the enzymes up to 12.35 of the cell dry weight.
