Loss of PTEN facilitates HIF-1-mediated gene expression

Article Abstract:

Loss of the PTEN tumor suppressor gene in malignant progression is a facilitating event in HIF-1-mediated gene expression according to this research communication article. Deregulation of Akt activity is a factor in the tumor expansion and comes from loss of PTEN.

Hypoxia in cartilage: HIF-1alpha is essential for chondrocyte growth and survival

Article Abstract:

Results indicate that hypoxic response and the oxygen sensitive hypoxia-inducible factor 1alpha (HIF1alpha) play a role in the development and cell survival in tissues affected by vascular flow. Data also show that expression of the vascular endothelial growth factor is regulated in a HIF1alpha- independent mannerin chondrocytes inducing ectopic angiogenesis.

Distinct aerobic and hypoxic mechanisms of HIF-alpha regulation by CSN5

Article Abstract:

Transcriptional regulators of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) family, required in humans to adapt to hypoxia is experimented, in combination with COP9 signalsome (CSN). The results highlight that CSN5 has multiple roles in the cell with different subunits and the expression is necessary for aerobic HIF-1alpha stabilization.
