Horizontal transfer of phnAc dioxygenase genes within one of two phenotypically and genotypically distinctive naphthalene-degrading guilds from adjacent soil environments
Article Abstract:
The horizontal transfer of the phnAc sequence is indicated among the hillside naphthalene-degrading isolates from a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-contaminated soil as shown by 16S ribosomal DNA sequence analysis. Furthermore, these isolates exhibit both genetic and metabolic diversity, suggesting their acclimation to pollutants.

Molecular and biochemical characterization of 3-hydroxybenzoate 6-hydroxylase from polaromonas naphthalenivorans CJ2
Article Abstract:
Physiological and genetic evidence is reported that orf2 does not encode salicylate-5-hydroxylase. It is further found that orf2 encodes 3-hydroxybenzoate 6-hydroxylase, the enzyme which catalyzes the NADH-dependent conversion of 3-hydroxybenzoate into gentisate.

Identification and characterization of the conjugal transfer region of the pCg1 plasmid from naphthalene-degrading Pseudomonas putida Cg1
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on naphthalene catabolic plasmid pCg1 carried by Pseudomonas putida Cg1. The authors report the identification of putative genes on this plasmid.
