Polarity in cell division: what frames thy fearful asymmetry?

Article Abstract:

Research on polarity cues in unicellular and multicellular organisms is described. These cues result in asymmetric cell division by lining up cell fate determinants so they are preferentially partitioned into one of the two daughter cells.

Hippocampal neuronal polarity specified by spatially localized mPar3/mPar6 and PI 3-kinase activity

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on cultured hippocampal neurons. Results demonstrate that selection of axons among cultured hippocampal neurone's neurites requires growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase activity.
