High-level expression of the Streptomyces clavuligerus isopenicillin N synthase gene in Escherechia coli

Article Abstract:

The utilization of pT7 series of plasmid vectors in the subcloning of pcbC gene from Streptomyces clavuligerus into Escherichia coli is discussed. An Nde1 sitewas introduced at the translation initiation codon of pcbC by a polymerase chain reaction. This allowed the insertion of the gene behind an E. coli type of ribosome binding site. A high-level expression of the pcbC gene was achieved.

Isolation and antifungal and antioomycete activities of aerugine produced by Pseudomonas fluorescens strain MM-B16

Article Abstract:

Research describes the isolation of a bacterial antagonist MM-B16 of plant pathogenic fungi and oomycetes and its identification as Pseudomonas fluorescens. The antibiotic produced by the isolate exhibits structure of a thiazoline derivative, aerugine and shows a marked protective activity against phytophthora and anthracnose disease.

Use of PCR-targeted mutagenesis to disrupt production of fusaricidin-type antifungal antibiotics in Paenibacillus polymyxa

Article Abstract:

The study demonstrates the role of a PCR-targeted mutagenesis in disrupting the production of fusaricidin-type antifungal antibiotics in Paenibacillus polymyxa (designated PKB1). The described approach offers the potential to bias the specificity of the modules, hence increasing the yield of the analogs.
