Article Abstract:
The efficient rerouting of pyruvate towards acetaldehyde in Lactococcus lactis by functional expression of pyruvate decarboxylase, originating from the gram-negative eth-anologenic bacterium Zymomonas mobilis is described. In resting cells, almost 50% of the glucose consumed could be redirected towards acetaldehyde by combined overexpression of pdc and nox under anaerrobic conditions.

Article Abstract:
Nisin, a pentacyclic peptide antibiotic, contains dehydroresidues and thioether rings that are introduced by membrane-associated enzyme complex composed of a serine and threonine dehydratase NisB and the cyclase NisC. The potential of lactococcus lactics expressing NisB and NisC are studied to produce peptitides whose serines and threonines are dehydrated.

Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the use of two variants of the trans-acting anti-genomic delta ribozyme targeting the abundant EF-Tu mRNA in the industrially important gram-positive bacterium Lactococcus lactis. The results showed the high stability in vivo, of the two variants, when expressed at significant levels.
