Article Abstract:
High genetic variability seen from allozymic loci in the narrow endemic fern Polystichum otomasui (Dryopteridaceae) is discussed based on study of the variability at 16 putative allozymic loci. The species appears to be outcrossing, based on Wright's fixation index, mating system estimates and the intragametophytic selfing rate. The high variabillity despite narrow distribution may come from a recent rapid decline in population and/or large effective population size coming from extensive gene flow among populations.

Article Abstract:
Genetic differentiation of oak populations in the Quercus robur/Quercus petraea complex has been studied in Central and Eastern Europe. The study was intended to fill the information gap that occurs because most of the published studies report on western Europe. Samples from eastern Europe come less often, especially those from the most eastern part of the distribution, in Russia.

Article Abstract:
Allozymic and microsatellite loci analyses for genetic variation and differentiation in two oak stands show that the genetic distances between the two are higher in microsatellites than in the allozyme loci. The differential impact of the two parameters on the analyses is discussed.
