Heterologous expression of Arabidopsis UDP-glucosyltransferases in Saccharomyces cerevisiae for production of zearalenone-4-O-glucoside

Article Abstract:

Zearalenone, a secondary metabolite produced by several plant-pathogenic fungi of the genus fusarium, has high estrogenic activity in vertebrates. A Saccharomyces cerevisiae bioassay strain was developed that was used to identify plant genes encoding UDP-glucosyltransferases that can convert zearalenone into zearalenone-4-O-glucoside (Zon-4-O-Glc).

Cell surface expression of bacterial esterase A by Saccharomyces cerevisiae and its enhancement by constitutive activation of the cellular unfolded protein response

Article Abstract:

Bacterial carboxylesterase EstA from Bukholderia gladioli is covalently anchored into the cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae by in-frame fusion to the endogeneous yeast proteins Kre1p, Cwp2p, and Flo1p. Results reveal that esterase cell surface display in yeast is remarkably more effective than EstA surface display in Escherichia coli.

Metabolically independent and accurately adjustable Aspergillus sp. expression system

Article Abstract:

The objective of the study was to develop a strong but metabolically independent, highly regulatable expression system for Aspergillus. Aspergillus cells carrying estrogen-responsive units could be used to detect xenoestrogens in food or in the environment.
