Article Abstract:
The 16S-23S rRNA intergenic spacer is a suitable region of the bacterial genome to gather useful taxonomic information specially regarding the identification at the species level. Sequencing of spacers revealed that spacers had a central region of highly variable length flanked by conserved regions that include a single tRNA sub ala gene. Polymorphism in the length of the 16S-23S spacer established by PCR gives a quick and useful accessory for strain identification for Streptococcus anginosus and S. constellatus which are not distinguished phenotypically.

Article Abstract:
A study supports the common genetic background of P. pulmonarius and P. sajor-caju but the controversy about the position of P. sapidus remains. The rDNA analysis recognized ten fragments appropriate for species identification eight allowing the characterization of five taxa and two prominent clusters including related taxa. The rDNA probe may be a suitable tool for varietal characterization and protection of commercially important strains.

Article Abstract:
Results demonstrate that phylogenetic analysis of the Pleurotus species of the Basidiomycota based upon the mitochondrial subunit domain sequences confirm that P. ostreatus and P. florida, as well as P. pulmonarius and P. sajor-caju, each belong to a single species.
