Hedgehog signaling in germ cell migration

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the somatic gonad precursor cells and germ cells which originate at distant sites. Results indicate that the germ cells must undergo complex cell movements to reach somatic gonad precursor cells and that the hedgehog-dependent signal affect the germ cells directing their migration toward the source of hedgehog protein and is needed for the proper germ cell migration.

Signaling downstream to Eph receptors and ephrin ligands

Article Abstract:

The authors review publications on the Eph receptors and ephrin ligands in investigating molecular mechanisms of the cellular interactions which regulate axon guidance, cell migration and morphogenesis. The topics of interest include the mechanisms used by these receptors and ligands to control discrete steps in the development of the nervous system.

Uncoupling protein-2 negatively regulates insulin secretion and is a major link between obesity, beta cell dysfunction, and type 2 diabetes

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the beta cell sense glucose which stimulates insulin secretion. The role of the uncoupling protein-2 in regulating insulin secretion has been investigated and the results are reported.
