Hedgehog: an unusual signal transducer

Article Abstract:

The functions and the features of Hedgehog proteins in both normal and pathological growth control are discussed. The Hedgehog proteins are of significant importance in the development and maintenance of tissue patterns in human adults, however Hedgehog signaling is a field which is least understood, the idiosyncratic features reflects its ancient evolutionary past.

Kinetic proofreading by the cavity system of myoglobin: protection from poisoning

Article Abstract:

Kinetic proofreading by the cavity system of myoglobin provide protection against contaminants and help protect cell from getting poisoned by carbon monoxide. An illustration is provided which shows that the network of cavities provide proofreading for myoglobin in simultaneous oxygen and carbon monoxide gradients.
