Haplotype frequency distribution and discriminatry power of two mtDNA fragments in a marine pelagic teleost (Atlantic herring, Clupea harengus)

Article Abstract:

Haplotype frequency distribution and discriminatory power of two mtDNA fragments has been studied in a marine pelagic teleost, Atlantic herring. Data suggest that the very skewed haplotype distribution of many mtDNA markers may be one of the reasons for the more infrequent detection of population differentiation compared to microsatellites.

Genetic diversity of the tropical tree Terminalia amazonia (Combretaceae) in naturally fragmented populations

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on populations of neotropical tree species Terminalia amazonia. The authors have investigated the effect of long-term fragmentation on genetic diversity of these populations via the use of random amplified polymorphic DNA analysis.

Microsatellite DNA analysis of population structure in Atlantic herring (Clupea harengus), with direct comparison to allozyme and mtDNA RFLP analysis

Article Abstract:

The article discusses a microsatellite analysis of population structure in Atlantic herring. Data demonstrating the existence of genetically distinct populations and the utility of DNA markers are presented.
