Article Abstract:
Synaptonemal complex (SC) assembly must occur between correctly paired homologous chromosomes to promote formation of chiasmata and Caenorhabditis elegans HORMA-domain protein HTP1 for coordinating establishment of homolog pairing and synapsis in C. elegans. It is suggested that HTP1 mutants are defective in preventing the use of sister chromatids as recombination partners and model is proposed in which HTP1 functions to establish multiple constraints that lead to chiasmata formation.

Article Abstract:
Evidence that efficient export of a fibrolast growth factor (FGF), EGL-17 from the caenorhabditis elegans developing vulva involves the lipoprotein receptor-related proteins Ce-LRP-1 and Ce-LRP-2 and a cytoplasmic adaptor proteinCe-DAB-1 (Disabled) is reported. A model is suggested in which Ce-DAb-1 coordinates selection of receptor and cargo for transport through the secretory pathway.

Article Abstract:
The brain's developmental reelin function regulates neuronal positioning. The intracellular disabled 1 gene gets a tryosine phosphorylation signal from reelin protein outside cells. The reelin and disabled 1 functions are interdependent, with disabled 1 phosphorylation stimulated by exogenous reelin.
