Article Abstract:
Iberian hams contain a variety of gram-positive, catalase-positive cocci. An analysis of the toxic potential of the organisms using DNA gene probes reveals that most of the isolates belong to Staphylococcus spp. and Micrococcus spp. DNA probes for C and D staphylococcal enterotoxin genes reveal the presence of S. xylosus and S. cohnii strains. Some toxigenic strains from coagulase-negative staphylococci and unidentified slightly halophilic organisms are also present. The unidentified strains contain enterotoxin D.

Article Abstract:
The distinct genetic cluster formed by rice yellow dwarf (RYD) mycoplasmalike organisms (MLOs) compared to other MLOs was investigated. The DNA of ten lines of RYD MLOs having different geographical origins were characterized by four chromosomal probes and six extrachromosomal probes. Dot and Southern hybridizations were conducted in the experiments. Electrophoretic diversity of extrachromosomal DNAs was established.

Article Abstract:
The electrophoretic mobilities (EPMs) of Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) organisms are measured. The EPMs of MAC organisms were compared to the EPMs of other microbiological pathogens measured under similar environmental conditions and the effect of pH on the EPMs of MAC microorganism were also examined.
