Regulation of DLG localization at synapses by CaMKII-dependent phosphorylation

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to investigate the regulation of Discs large (DLG) localization at synapses. The synaptic DLG localization was found to be mediated by CaMKII-dependent phosphorylation. The constitutive activation of CaMKII or a point mutation that mimicked CaMKII phosphorylation of DLG both led to a significant increase in extrasynaptic DLG. These results strongly suggest that changes in synaptic structure and composition induced by changing CaMKII activity are due to changes in DLG distribution.

Glial control of synaptogenesis

Article Abstract:

Glial-derived thrombospondins and additional soluble glial-secreted factors regulate synapse assembly and functional maturation. The mechanisms inducing the formation between neurons that occur through synapse are studied.
