Genotype analysis of Escherichia coli strains isolated from children and chickens living in close contact

Article Abstract:

A genotype analysis of Escherichia coli strains isolated from children and chickens living in close contact was conducted. Isolates were taken from rectal swabs from 62 chickens and stools from 42 children living in close contact with chickens in Kenya. Results revealed that the E. coli strains from the two sources were distinct despite the fact that several different genotypes of the E. coli were isolated from chickens and children from the same farms.

Development of experimental genetic tools for Campylobacter fetus

Article Abstract:

The development and functional analysis of Escherichia coli-Campylobacter shuttle vectors which are appropriate for Campylobacter fetus is discussed. Reduction in vector size and limited host range to Campylobacter fetus was observed due to the substitution of the Campylobacter coli replication elements.

Prevalence and genetic diversity of Campylobacter spp. in environmental water samples from a 100-square-kilometer predominantly dairy farming area

Article Abstract:

The prevalence of Campylobacter spp. in water samples taken systematically from a 100-km(super 2) rural area is estimated. Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PFGE-RELP) and flaA strain typing of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli isolates is done.
