Genetic diversity of Pasteurella multocida fowl cholera isolates as demonstrated by ribotyping and 16S rRNA and partial atpD sequence comparisons

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the Pasteurella multocida. The genetic diversity of this aetiological agent of fowl cholera has been investigated and the results indicate that this diversity is related to the clonal nature of P. multocida resulting in many divergent lines.

Genomic relationships between selected phage types of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serotype typhimurium defined by ribotyping, IS200 typing and PFGE

Article Abstract:

Quantitative comparisons of IS200, ribotype, and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis patterns were used to analyze the genomic relationship between isolates belonging to different phage types of Salmonella enterica subsp. typhimurium. Members of the four phage types were found clonally related when they formed tight subclusters separated from isolates of other phage types.

Identification of lactic acid bacteria from chili bo, a Malaysian food ingredient

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the isolation and characterization of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) with potential biotechnological uses from the conventional Malaysian food chili bo. The sample consisted of 92 strains of lactic acid bacteria isolated from a chili bo stored for up to 25 days at 28 degrees c without benzoic acid or with 7,000 mg of benzoic acid/kg. Results suggest the high probability of isolation of new LAB from certain Southeast Asian foods.
