Genomic instability due to V(D)J recombination-associated transposition

Article Abstract:

The examples, wherein putative transposon associated with V(D)J recombination integrated into the genome of a pre-B-cell line is recovered and it is showed that V(D)J recombination associated transposition activity as an important possible source of oncogenic rearrangements. It is revealed that transposition accounted for a surprisingly high proportion (one-third) of integrations, while most of the remaining events had parallels to other aberrant V(D)J recombination pathways linked to oncogenic translocation.

Mouse MutS-like protein Msh5 is required for proper chromosome synapsis in male and female meiosis

Article Abstract:

Mouse MutS-like protein Msh5 is necessary for chromosome synapsis to occur properly in meiosis, either male or female. Murine Msh5 promotes synapsis of homologous chromosomes in meiotic prophase I. Mice carrying a disruption in the MutS homolog Msh5 have been shown to have a meiotic defect that brings sterility of males and females.

The structural determinants of checkpoint activation

Article Abstract:

The genome integrity is maintained by the damage signals produced by ATR-mediated checkpoint activation. The studies on Xenopus egg extracts shows that phosphorylation of Chk1 is triggered by single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) although it cannot carry out the activation independently.
