Article Abstract:
Research on New Zealand triplefins is presented. Genome size was found to be significantly plastic, with a size difference of 50% between the largest and the smallest genomes and variation of up to 20% occurring within genera. Genome size does not appear to be linked to neoteny, longevity, or morphological complexity as in other organisms.

Article Abstract:
The FoxP2 gene is the first that has been identified as being specifically involved in language and speech development in humans. Although human language acquisition and song-learning in birds share neurological and behavioral similarities, research shows that FoxP2 does not play a role in vocal learning evolution in nonhuman animals.

Article Abstract:
Three glucagon-like sequences have been identified in zebrafish, pufferfish, frogs, and chickens that are similar to proglucagon-derived peptide receptors. Two have been determined to have an origin prior to the divergence of mammals and fish; further data on receptor divergence and downstream effects are presented.
