Article Abstract:
Only 7% of the total allelic variation in western larch populations in British Columbia, Canada, is attributable to differences among populations, according to research undertaken on nine widely distributed natural stands in the interior British Columbia. There are indications of extensive gene flow among the populations studied. High gene flow is known to cut the level of genetic differentiation among populations. This information will play a valuable role in making informed gene resource management decisions.

Article Abstract:
The genetic differentiation among populations of the common sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) from the North Sea, Britanny, Portugal, Morocco, the Alboran Sea and the western Mediterranean is examined. Sea bass populations were clustered into to distinct groups, the Atlantic group and the western Mediterranean group, and it is possible that the divide may be linked to the Almeria-Oran oceanographic front.

Article Abstract:
Hawaii's recent geological history has added 14 subaerial volcanoes to the southeast of the island. Each has been populated by terrestrial colonists that appear to originate from the adjacent older island. Research into genetic change in Hawaiian Drosophila supports the theory that the ambient and sexual environments of local populations causes reproductive isolation from other species.
