Article Abstract:
The article discusses about the analysis of the two-subartic populations of the common frog, Rana temporaria in Northern Finland was conducted to determine the interactions between genetic variability and two fitness-related characteristics, size and age at the metamorphosis and the probable correlation between parental genetic variation and offspring life history characteristic variation.

Article Abstract:
The genetic and maternal effects on the probability of survival and being deformed, body size and shape of common frog indicate that the expression of additive and nonadditive genetic variance is not pH dependent and all traits are heritable. Maternal effects are significant for all traits with viability being predominant and body size being dependent on the egg size.

Article Abstract:
A study to determine the evolutionary reasons for and mechanisms of heterogametic sex change is conducted in order to understand the evolutionary mechanisms of sex determination. There are two main types of heterogamety, male heterogamety (XX/XY) and female heterogamety (ZZ/ZW).
