Genetic structure in three haploid peat mosses (Sphagnum)

Article Abstract:

Genetic structure in three haploid peat mosses (Sphagnum) has been studied using 18 populations. Special emphasis was placed on the bisexual S. lindbergii and the unisexual S. fallax, S. isoviitae and S. angustifolium. Bryophytes had been thought to have a low rate of evolution, but they can be seen through isozyme studies to have high genetic variation rates. Observed patterns were consistent with a low evolution rate, in S. angustifolium, at least. High levels of molecular variability seem to be compatible with slow evolution. .

Population structure and genetic diversity of the amphiatlantic haploid peatmoss Sphagnum affine (Sphagnopsida)

Article Abstract:

Nineteen Sphagnum affine (Sphagnopsida) populations were studied on both sides of the Atlantic for genetic diversity and structure in fragmented and less fragmented situations and for differentiation at intercontinental and three regional levels. Eight enzyme systems were subjected to isozyme electrophoresis, which showed 12 variable loci which could be used for haplotype identification.

Fine-scale genetic structure in Pinus clausa (Pinaceae) populations: effects of disturbance history

Article Abstract:

Pinus clausa (Pinaceae) populations and their fine scale genetic structure have been studied relative to effects of disturbance history. Variability between years in allele frequencies of seedlings that survive may account for the absence of genetic structure in these populations.
