Mitochondrial control-region sequence variation in the Corsican population, France

Article Abstract:

The mitochondrial DNA of Corsicans are examined to establish genetic patterns among the Corsicans and other ethnic groups, such as the Basques and Sardinians. Results indicate east-to-west migration fifteen to forty thousand years ago although genetic results conflict with paleontological evidence.

Genetic structure and affinities of the Corsican population (France): classical genetic markers analysis

Article Abstract:

The Mediterranean population most genetically similar to Corsicans is from Sardinia. Although both groups have a common origin, neither is completely identical, reflecting differences in demographic structure, isolation, and genetic drift.
