Resistance to soybean mosaic virus conferred by two independent dominant genes in PI 486355

Article Abstract:

The inheritance of the soybean mosaic virus (SMV) resistance in Glycine max cultivar PI 486355 was verified and the genetic relationships between the resistance genes and those previously reported to be at the Rsv1 locus were determined. Cross experiments showed that PI 486355 has two independent dominant genes conferring resistance to SMV with one resistance gene at the Rsv1 locus. One of the PI 486355 genes exhibits incomplete dominance similar to that of some Rsv1 alleles.

Genetic of resistance to two strains of soybean mosaic virus in differential soybean genotypes

Article Abstract:

The objective of the study was to determine whether soybean reactions to two strains are governed by the same gene or by separate genes. The results indicate that reactions to both G1 and G7 are controlled by either the same gene or very closely linked genes.
