Article Abstract:
Natural populations of Chamaecyparis obtusa are investigated by using 51 cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence (CAPS) markers, which are developed from sequence-tagged sites (STS) in Cryptomenia jaconica. The analysis has shown that the small populations in western Japan and in Kanto district are more important, from a conservation perspective, than the populations in central Japan, because of their genetic divergence, relatively small sizes and restricted areas.

Article Abstract:
The genetic structure of Camellia japonica saplings in different canopy conditions in an old growth forest is investigated to clarify canopy gap effects on genetic structure. It is found that canopy gaps may promote flowering and mating in an isolation-by-distance manner within canopy gaps and canopy gaps may promote seed production and resulting overlap in seed shadows may weaken fine-scale genetic structures.

Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on nuclar and mitochondrial genomes in Pinus parviflora. The authors have investigated genetic diversities of these genomes, and they have suggested that differing modes of inheritance may be responsible for the differences in nuclar and mitochondrial genetic diversity.
