Mathematical analysis of growth and interaction dynamics of streptomycetes and a bacteriophage in soil

Article Abstract:

Analysis by a population-dynamic mathematical model of the mechanisms governing the low susceptibility of soil microcosms to phage attack as compared to aquatic environments indicate that spatial heterogeneity may be the influencing factor.

Genetic diversity and temporal variation in the cyanophage community infecting marine Synechococcus species in Rhode Island's coastal waters

Article Abstract:

The authors have examined the genetically diverse cyanophage community in Rhode Island's coastal waters. The aim of the research has been to characterize the cyanophage diversity over the three-year period, and to analyze the temporal and spatial variations of cyanophage genotype abundance in the coastal waters.

Survival of F-specific RNA coliphage, feline calicivirus, and Escherichia coli in water: a comparative study

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on enteric viral pathogens and their indicators such as coliform bacteria and coliphages. The authors have investigated the relationship between the pathogens' and their indicators' survival in water, and they report that the survival rates are highly correlated, and that F-specific RNA phages may be the indicators of noroviruses in the environment.
