Article Abstract:
The use of random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD)-PCR assays has shown strong within-population RAPD variation in the European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax). There was only limited between-population genetic differentiation. It was established that there is an east-west differentiation of Mediterranean sea bass. Both RAPD and alloyzme data indicate that a small proportion of the total variation is attributable to sorting on the basis of ecological criteria.

Article Abstract:
The effects of inbreeding on the performance of the wood frog larvae in the field and in the laboratory were examined, using microsatellite analysis to establish the percentage and degree of inbreeding in the larvae. Results showed that there was no evidence that inbreeding influenced growth or development in the wild, neither that inbreeding affected survival, growth or development in the laboratory.
