Genetic differentiation of the malaria vector Anopheles gambiae across Nigeria suggests that selection limits gene flow

Article Abstract:

Genetic differentiation has been carried out in Anopheles gambiae in Nigeria and results suggest that gene flow is limited by selection. Geographical distance does not seem to limit gene flow. For all loci, the largest estimates of differentiation were seen between savanna locations and forest locations. Chromosome II, frequencies of which varied from north to south, were the source of all the differentiation, virtually.

Quantitative genetics of ultrasonic advertisement signalling in the lesser waxmoth Achroia grisella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae)

Article Abstract:

Results show that heritability of ultrasonic advertisement signalling indicator peak amplitude and signal rate are highly repeated in male Achroia grisella. Data further indicate that environmental conditions influence heritability variation of signalling indicators.

Complex structural features of satellite DNA sequences in the genus Pimelia (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae): random differential amplification from a common 'satellite DNA library'

Article Abstract:

The discrepancy between the phylogeny was obtained based on three mitochondrial, two nuclear markers and satellite DNA (stDNA) sequences. It suggested that the different Pimella satellites were already present in a common ancestor known as 'satellite DNA Library'.
