Genetic clines in the Bay of Biscay provide estimates of migration for Sardina pilchardus

Article Abstract:

The genetic structure of the Sardina pilchardus population in the Bay of Biscay was investigated and analyzed to identify genetic clines between geographic factors and genetic indices. It is found that the process driving the cline throughout the Bay of Biscay for Sardina pilchardus is difficult to compute from the usual analysis of genetic structure.

An ancient RNase HI splice junction mutant preserved in a 19-million-year-old genetic fossil in ape genomes

Article Abstract:

The discovery of a retroprocessed pseudogene (retropseudogene) descended from the gene encoding ribonuclease (RNase) HI in ape genomes is reported. The only evidence of the mutation is found in a 19-million-year-old genetic fossil in ape genomes.
