Article Abstract:
An investigation into the inheritance of dinitroaniline herbicide (DNH) resistance in the annual weed, goosegrass, is presented. The study is aimed at determining the dinitroaniline response phenotype of F1, F2 and F3 plants using a root growth bioassay. The results show that DNH resistance is inherited as a single, recessive nuclear gene, contradicting previous predictions that DNH resistance is genetically complex.

Article Abstract:
Statistical analysis was done to evaluate the experimental findings on the genetic studies on fluctuating asymmetry (FA) for eight quasi-continuous (presence/absence) skeletal characters in randombred house mice. The results confirmed that variations in FA for the skeletal characters are largely due to environmental factors. The findings further indicated that there is no detectable additive genetic variance for FA.

Article Abstract:
Hawaii's recent geological history has added 14 subaerial volcanoes to the southeast of the island. Each has been populated by terrestrial colonists that appear to originate from the adjacent older island. Research into genetic change in Hawaiian Drosophila supports the theory that the ambient and sexual environments of local populations causes reproductive isolation from other species.
