Genetic and environmental contributions to variation in human tooth size

Article Abstract:

Contributions of genetics and of the environment to variation in human tooth size are discussed. A significant effect of the environment shared by twins, uterine or early in life, was found for mesiodistal (MD) and buccolingual (BL) diameters of maxillary first molars. Significant non-additive genetic variation was seen in MD diameters of canines and first premolars. That would be consistent with selective pressures at some stage in human evolution.

Gene conversion disparity in yeast: its extent, multiple origins, and effects on allele frequencies

Article Abstract:

The multiple origins, extent, and effects on allele frequencies of gene conversion disparity in yeast are discussed. Excellent data from large sample sizes now are available, including data on mutations of known molecular nature. It is possible now to study effects of various kinds of mispairing.

Alternative splicing and expressivity of the Axin(super.Fu) allele in mice

Article Abstract:

Alternative splicing, incomplete penetrance, and variable expressivity have been studied in mice carrying the mutant Axin(super.Fu) allele with mRNA profiles studied. Higher levels of alternatively spliced mRNAs correlate positively with stronger expression of the mutant trait.
