Independent spontaneous mitochondrial malate dehydrogenase null mutants in soybean are the result of deletions

Article Abstract:

Research describing the mitochondrial malate dehydrogenase-1 gene of soybean is presented. In particular spontaneous mutations to a null phenotype are investigated.

Fr1 (root fluorescence) locus is located in a segregation distortion region on linkage group K of soybean genetic map

Article Abstract:

Germplasm diversity in soybean is characterized by root fluorescent mutants. Five root fluorescence controlling loci have been identified and the genomic locations of some of them have been defined. A new study applies bulked segregant analysis as a method for rapid identification of simple sequence repeat markers linked with the Fr1 locus. Results show the Fr1 locus is positioned on molecular genetic linkage group K. Details of the study are presented.
