Low Y chromosome variation in Saudi-Arabian hamadryas (Papio hamadryas hamadryas)

Article Abstract:

Low levels of polymorphism on the Y chromosome of Saudi-Arabian hamadryas baboons, Papio hamadryas hamadryas are reported. Low effect population size of paternal genes due to polygyny and female-biased adult sex ration is a potential reason for low Y chromosome variation in Arabian hamadryas.

Neutral versus adaptive genetic variation in parasite resistance: importance of major histocompatibility complex supertypes in a free-ranging primate

Article Abstract:

An investigation on the effects of neutral versus adaptive genetic variation in parasite resistance in fat-tailed dwarf lemurs (Cheirogaleus medius) was conducted. Result shows no association between neutral overall individual genetic diversity and parasite load.
