Article Abstract:
The unexpected parentage of grape cultivars that resulted from either spontaneous or deliberate crosses can be revealed by DNA typing similar to the one done to establish human paternity. A study of 89 grape cultivars with 60 microsatellite markers was undertaken to calculate the identity-by-descent and relatedness coefficients among six putatively related cultivars from France ('Pinot', 'Syrah' and 'Dureza') and northern Italy ('Teroldego', 'Lagrein' and 'Marzemino').

Article Abstract:
Population genetic analyses reveal that evolutionary intermediate nuclear ribosomal DNA (nrDNA) types exist at low frequency in natural populations of basidiomycetes due to meiotic recombination of alpha and beta nrDNA. Furthermore, the occurrence of divergent nrDNA types in Trichaptum abietinum may be a result of an independent evolution and an hybridization event.

Article Abstract:
The dynamic changes occurring between the genomic DNA and the outside world are studied. The study of the integration of a koala retrovirus (KoRV) into the koala genome has provided an important model for studying early retrovirus/retroelement evolutionary dynamics and insights into the exchange of DNA between genomic DNA and the outside world.
