Gene cloning, transcriptional analysis, purification, and characterization of phenolic acid decarboxylase from Bacillus subtilis

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine gene cloning, purification, transcriptional analysis and characterization of phenolic acid decarboxylase from Bacillus subtilis. Partial sequencing was performed on 5-kb insertion and was discovered to possess a 528-bp open reading frame coding for a 161-amino-acid protein exhibiting 71 identity with the pdc-encoded enzymes and 84% identity with the fdc-encoded enzymes. Results indicate that the enzyme may be useful in the identification of regions involved in substrate specificity and catalysis.

Cloning, deletion, and characterization of PadR, the transcriptional repressor of the phenolic acid decarboxylase-encoding padA gene of Lactobacillus plantarum

Article Abstract:

The putative padR gene in Lactobacillus plantarum has been cloned, characterized and deleted using the knowledge of the sequence of padR gene in Pedioccus pentosaceus and the function of padA gene as a transcriptional repressor of the phenolic acid stress response is demonstrated. Regions involved in inactivation and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) binding can be determined using structure-function analysis.

Bile-mediated aminoglycoside sensitivity in Lactobacillus species likely results from increased membrane permeability attributable to cholic acid

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to assess antimicrobial resistance in lactobacilli by using agar disk diffusion and MIC analysis in MRS medium. The findings indicate that mainly cholic acid effectively permeabilizes the membrane to aminoglycosides.
