Gene activities that mediate increased life span of C. elegans insulin-like signaling mutants

Article Abstract:

A genome-wide RNA interference (RNAi) screening is conducted to identify genes necessary for the extended life span of daf-2 mutants and gene inactivations that shorten daf-2 life span. The gene inactivations have disrupted the increased expression of the DAF-16 downstream gene superoxide dismutase sod-3 in a daf-2 mutant, suggesting trafficking between the insulin-like receptor and DAF-16.

The molecular signature and cis-regulatory architecture of a C. elegans gustatory neuron

Article Abstract:

A serial analysis of gene expression (SAGE) libraries were generated from two distinct populations of single, isolated sensory neuron classes, the gustatory neuron class ASE from Caenorhabditis elegans. It was shown that the ASE motif is a binding site for the C2H2 zinc finger TF CHE-1 which is essential for the correct differentiation of the ASE gustatory neuron.

Conservation of the global sex determination gene tra-1 in distantly related nematodes

Article Abstract:

The functional conservation of the tra-1 gene in sex determination of Pristionchus pacificus and Caenorhabditis elegans is studied. The study is said to provide the first example of the functional conservation of a global sex determination regulator in two distantly related species of the same phylum.
