Galactose metabolism by Streptococcus mutans

Article Abstract:

A study was done to modify Streptococcus mutans, which would reduce the flow of carbohydrate through the glycolytic pathway to understand the effects on global gene expression. The results suggest that S.mutans shows remarkable versatility in sugar metabolism and S.mutans can efficiently metabolize galactose in monosaccharide form only when both the Leloir and tagatose pathways are functional.

Characterization of Streptococcus mutans strains deficient in EIIAB (super)Man of the sugar phosphotransferase system

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on EIIAB (super)Man protein of Streptococcus mutans UA159. The role of this protein in carbohydrate transport, in gene expression control and in virulence determinant regulation has been investigated, and the results are reported.

Characterization of the arginine deiminase operon of Streptococcus rattus FA-1

Article Abstract:

The evolution and diversity of the mutans streptococci in relation to pH adaption is examined. It is done by initiating a molecular characterization of the arc operon of Streptococcus rattus FA-1.
