GRASP65, a protein involved in the stacking of Golgi cisternae

Article Abstract:

Experiment was conducted to identify the proteins on Golgi membranes that might establish or mediate the stacking of Golgi cisternae. Candidate proteins in this system should be n-ethylmaleimide (NEM)-sensitive proteins of Golgi membranes subject to some form of cell-cycle regulation as the cell enters and exits mitosis. Accessible sulphydryl groups on the starting Golgi membranes were blocked with NEM and then treated with mitotic or interphase cytosols. Results link vesicle docking, stacking of Golgi cisternae and the disruption of both interactions during mitosis.

GMAP-210 recruits gamma-tubulin complexes to cis- Golgi membranes and is required for Golgi ribbon formation

Article Abstract:

GMAP-210, a cis-Golgi microtubule binding protein, recruits gamma-tubulin-containing complexes to Golgi membranes even in conditions where microtubule polymerization is prevented and independently of Golgi apparatus localization within the cell. The findings suggest that GMAP-210 displays microtubule anchoring and membrane fusion activities, thus contributing to the assembly and maintenance of the Golgi ribbon around the centrosome.

Auxin distribution and plant pattern formation: How many angels can dance on the point of PIN?

Article Abstract:

The direction of auxin flow and the distribution of auxin within tissues are regulated by auxin efflux, which is an active, carrier-dependent process that is often dependent on PIN proteins. Feedback regulation between auxin and its transporters establishes homeostatic patterns of auxin accumulation but allows dynamic repatterning in response to developmental or environmental cues.
