Article Abstract:
GMAP-210, a cis-Golgi microtubule binding protein, recruits gamma-tubulin-containing complexes to Golgi membranes even in conditions where microtubule polymerization is prevented and independently of Golgi apparatus localization within the cell. The findings suggest that GMAP-210 displays microtubule anchoring and membrane fusion activities, thus contributing to the assembly and maintenance of the Golgi ribbon around the centrosome.

Article Abstract:
The investigation of the size of the lipid-dependent organization of glycosyl-phosphophatidylinositol-anchored proteins (GPI-APs), in live cells is done using homo and hetero-FRET-based experiments along with theoretical modeling. An analysis of the statistical distribution of clusters is presented and the observation suggests a mechanism for the functional lipid-dependent clustering of GPI-APs.

Article Abstract:
The mechanism underlying a biological safety net for the soil bacterium Bacillus subtilis is discussed. The bacterium protects itself from a toxic protein it secretes by upregulating an immunity protein, which it does by sequestering a transcriptional repressor at the plasma membrane.
